Same room, but one feels warm and cozy, the other cool and fresh… all from changing one thing: color!

💡 What this story is about —
Didi and Bobo each get an identical empty room and compete to see who can decorate it better.
Bobo picks cool colors, Didi picks warm colors. They spin the color wheel to discover color temperature and design their rooms.
Who will win? A surprisingly tricky ending awaits!

"Look at this — same room, but why does it feel so different?"

Didi tilting her head as she looks back and forth at two identical rooms in a picture book, with Bobo peering over her shoulder — left room in sunset orange tones, right room in cool blue tones

There were two rooms drawn side by side on one page of the picture book.

The beds were in the same spot, the windows were the same, even the chairs matched perfectly —

but one felt warm and cozy, while the other felt cool and breezy.

"Bobo, look at this. Same room, but why does it feel so different?"

Bobo pressed his nose right up to the page and stared for a long while, then shrugged his shoulders.

"Didi, they really are identical… but one feels warm and the other feels cool. How weird is that!"

There was only one difference: color. The warm room glowed with sunset orange, the cool room shimmered in ocean blue.

"So let's each decorate one!"

Didi and Bobo hooking their little fingers together in a pinky promise, making a bet about who can decorate the best room

Just changing the color could completely change the mood of a whole room. Didi's hands were itching to try it herself.

"Bobo, let's each decorate one of those rooms. Winner takes all!"

Bobo's eyes lit up. "Deal! I want the cool room. I really can't stand the heat."

"Fine! Then I'll take the warm room. I'm going to win!"

They locked pinky fingers, and opened up "Furniture Design with a Wish" on WAGZAK JUMP.

Didi and Bobo gazing in amazement at a tiny empty white AR room floating in the middle of their real room

A tiny empty room floated right in the middle of Didi's real room. Walls, floor, everything white — a blank canvas of a room.

"Wow, there's actually a room floating in the air!"

But when it was time to start, Didi felt stuck. Which colors make something feel warm? Which colors make it feel cool?

The colors held hands and formed a circle

A 10-color wheel in AR — red, orange, yellow, yellow-green, green, teal, blue, indigo, violet, and magenta arranged in a glowing rainbow ring

Just then, a glowing rainbow ring appeared floating beside the room.

All the colors were holding hands, forming one big circle. Red, orange, yellow, yellow-green, green, teal, blue, indigo, violet, magenta.

Ten colors fitted perfectly into the ring. This, apparently, is a color wheel — ten colors arranged in order.

Didi spun the ring around with her finger.

From red to orange, orange to yellow — with every step, the color gently shifted.

Not a sharp jump, but a smooth blend, as if each color was sharing itself with its neighbor. Next to Didi, Bobo breathed, "So pretty…"

The ring splits in two — warm colors and cool colors

The AR color wheel splitting in half — one side warm colors (magenta through yellow-green) glowing, the other side cool colors (green through violet)

One tap on the ring, and the color wheel slid apart, splitting into two halves.

One side held colors like sunsets and bonfires: magenta, red, orange, yellow, yellow-green.

Just looking at them felt like your body was being gently warmed. These are warm colors.

The other side held colors like the ocean and ice: green, teal, blue, indigo, violet.

Looking at those felt refreshing and cool. These are cool colors.

Amazing — you could feel warm or cool just by looking at colors, without even touching them!

"Didi, then I'll only pick from the cool side." Bobo poked at the blue squares.

Didi's Sunset Room — done!

Didi's warm room glowing cozily with orange walls, rose-red bedding, and a yellow rug — just like a sunset

A furniture menu popped up on the side. Bed, chair, desk, rug, curtains, even a small potted plant.

Tap to pick, and drag it right into the room — it snapped perfectly into place.

Didi chose only from the warm side of the color wheel. Orange walls, rose-red bed, yellow rug.

Wow! It looks just like a glowing evening sunset!!

The whole room shone warmly, like a big cozy hug.

Red, rose, orange, yellow, magenta… gathering warm colors made Didi want to curl right up inside that room.

Bobo's Ice Room — done too!

Bobo's cool room shimmering refreshingly with blue walls, teal bedding, and indigo curtains

Now it was Bobo's turn. In an identical empty room, Bobo picked only cool colors.

Blue walls, teal bed, indigo curtains.

Hey — it really does look cool and refreshing!

The furniture was the same as Didi's room, but just switching to cool colors made the room feel like a breezy summer beach.

Blue, teal, indigo, violet… gathering cool colors made you feel refreshed just looking at it.

"See! I told you — cool rooms are the best." Bobo lifted his chin proudly.

Same brightness, same layout — the only thing that changed was the color. Yet the two rooms felt worlds apart. The secret of that picture book wasn't magic at all. It was the temperature of color.

One orange cushion in the blue room — wait, what?

Didi and Bobo pointing at a single orange cushion sitting in the middle of Bobo's cool blue room, standing out boldly

Then Didi pulled a little prank. She sneaked one orange cushion into Bobo's cool room.

And that tiny orange cushion just popped right out from the middle of the blue room — like it was jumping forward!

"Hey! Why are you putting a warm color in my cool room!" Bobo yelped.

But even Bobo had to admit it was fascinating — his eyes went wide. When you add just a touch of warm color into a room full of cool colors, that single spot comes vividly alive.

The same worked the other way. When Didi placed a blue pot in her warm room, that blue leaped right out at you.

Colors are like friends too. Colors next to each other are like similar friends, while colors across from each other make each other shine. Even in the world of color, there's friendship!

So, whose room is better?

Didi's warm sunset room and Bobo's cool ice room displayed side by side, with the two friends each insisting their own room is better

Judgment time. The warm sunset room and the cool ice room were placed side by side, and they stared hard at both.

"My sunset room is so much cozier and nicer!"

"No way! Bobo's ice room is a hundred times cooler and more awesome!"

They each argued their own room was better, but no matter how long they looked — both rooms were amazing. One made you want to snuggle in, the other made you want to dive right in.

"Hmm… who actually won?"

The surprising verdict — there was no right answer

Didi drawing her dream room on paper with warm walls and a cool desk corner, smiling brightly, while Bobo draws his all-blue room next to her

No matter how hard they argued, there was no winner. Then both of them burst out laughing at the same time.

"There's no right answer!"

Exactly. Some people love warm rooms, and some people love cool rooms.

People who live in cold places might prefer warm colors, and people in hot climates might reach for cool ones. Choosing colors is really about filling a space with your own feelings. Maybe that's why this lesson is called "Furniture Design with a Wish."

So Didi got a little greedy and designed her ideal room. Warm orange walls for cozy sleep, and a cool blue desk corner to help her think clearly when she studies.

Warm room with one cool accent. Using the little secret she'd learned from that orange cushion.

Bobo kept on drawing his all-blue ice room to the end. "I still like it cool!" So like Bobo — and that's totally fine too!

Warm room or cool room — there was no right answer. Both were wonderful, and which color you choose just comes down to following your own heart.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How do I tell warm colors from cool colors?

It helps to split the color wheel in half and remember it that way. Magenta, red, orange, yellow, and yellow-green — the colors of sunsets and campfires — are warm colors. Green, teal, blue, indigo, and violet — the colors of the ocean and ice — are cool colors. Even the same room will feel cozy with warm colors and refreshing with cool colors.

Q. Why do some colors feel warm or cool?

Colors don't actually have a temperature, but they make us feel things because of what we associate them with. Orange and red remind us of sunsets and fire, so they feel warm. Blue and teal remind us of the sea and ice, so they feel cool. That's why simply changing a color can completely change the mood of a room.

Q. What are some safe color activities kids can do at home?

A fun and safe activity is sorting things around the house into warm colors and cool colors. Try grouping cups, blankets, umbrellas, and bags by color. Then draw "the room you'd love to live in" on paper and choose the colors for the walls, bed, and curtains yourself — a great way to naturally learn about color temperature. All you need are crayons or colored pencils, so enjoy it together with a parent!
